King's College

History

While working as a tour guide, Mr. John Kapend had a dream: to establish a major Christian school in his home country. As time went by, this dream became clearer and clearer, until it became his vision. One day, while working in Cape Town, he met an Australian businessman with whom he shared his vision. To his surprise, he discovered that the businessman was also a Christian and, moreover, the director and treasurer of the Anglican schools in the Diocese of Sydney, Australia.

Their friendship grew, and the man continued to encourage Mr. John Kapend in what had become a project. After several years, the Anglo Australian Christian and Charitable Fund (AACCF) NGO was established, and Mr. John Kapend was appointed as one of the members of the board of directors. The NGO's vision was to promote the Christian religion throughout the world, and among its objectives was the promotion of education based on the doctrine and principles of the Christian faith. Mr. John Kapend's vision was quickly realized thanks to the NGO.

The board of directors accepted his vision, and in April 2016, the NGO financed Mr. John's trip to Lubumbashi with the mission of creating a school. Upon arrival, he met with the Anglican bishop of the Diocese of Katanga to sign the partnership agreement for the project. Shortly thereafter, the plot of land on which KING'S COLLEGE in Lubumbashi was to be built was purchased.

With the plans drawn up, construction began with the first phase, KING'S COLLEGE 1 (preschool section), completed in mid-2017. KING'S COLLEGE AN ANGLICAN SCHOOL opened its doors in September 2017 with 26 students. In the second year, enrollment rose to 70 students, and construction began on KING'S COLLEGE 2 (Primary Section), with the addition of 12 classrooms and a building that would house four administrative offices, plus a large staff room. The work was completed in mid-2019, and 280 students were enrolled for the 2019-2020 school year. God has certainly blessed the school.

Our prayer is that the school's motto, "Christ is my light," will become a reality in the lives of the students, their families, and the entire Congolese nation.

Mission

The mission of KING'S COLLEGE is to create a community where all children will come to know Jesus Christ, feel loved, respected, and encouraged to develop their potential. Our program will promote and maintain a good environment that will give children the opportunity to develop and grow positively in order to become role models and agents of transformation for the nation.

Vision

KING'S COLLEGE's vision is to build, through Christian education, a generation of good citizens capable of transforming the Democratic Republic of Congo.
